GENERAL INFORMATION

MILESTONES IN THE HISTORY OF VIMALALAYAM COLLEGE

1961 - HOME SCIENCE COLLEGE & HOSTEL FACILITY

Hostel was started by Vimalalayam for the women enrolled by the Vimala Welfare Center. Presently the hostel provides accomodation to students of the Vimalalayam College and for other College going students

Home Science College was open to women of all ages and had the option of choosing from any of the several many short term certificate courses such as cookery, baking, cutting and sewing, embroidery, flower arrangement and fabric painting

1975 - SECRETARIAL COURSE

A formal course for training women as Office Secretaries and Office Assistants - the Secretarial Course was instituted as a result of the urgent need to train and recruit some of the talented women at the Vimalalayam centre.

1998 - DEGREE COURSES

Vimalalayam began a degree course in Commerce in1998 at the Vimalalayam College of Home Science sensing that many young girls were in dire need of academic development and could not get into the main stream colleges in Kochi for reasons of their own.

2008 - MASTERS COURSE IN COMMERCE

Based on the success of the degree course, the Sisters of Vimalalayam decided to offer a Post Graduation Degree in Commerce.

2010 - CORPORATE MANAGEMENT STUDY

To keep up with the changing needs of the young women today and the, it was decided to offer a brand new exciting course for the deserving – Corporate Management Study.

RULES & REGULATIONS

Every student is required to read the following rules and regulations and to sign a declaration that she will abide by all the rules and regulations of the college and accept the decision of the principal in all matters as final.

  • A minimum of 80% attendance is compulsory.
  • The absentees must submit their leave letter to the office. Sick leave note (more than 3 days) should be attested by a medical officer.
  • Students must go through the notices displayed on the notice board
  • Visitors and telephone calls will not be entertained
  • Fees not paid in time will be charged a fine
  • Fees once paid will not be refunded
  • "Waste not, want not" - Please take care not to waste water and electricity.
  • 'Cleanliness is next to Godliness', keep the class rooms and toilets clean.
  • Modesty in dress is expected from the students.
  • Mobile phone is not allowed in the campus.
  • Course fee is subjected to change.

Applications for Registration & Re-registration for +2, BCom courses & 1st Installment Fee shall be accepted on 15th May. Kindly contact the office for further details.
